Throughout the past decade, Sister Funk has received many awards, titles and accolade. They were the recipients of the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Award for their outstanding dedication from the American Cancer Society. They were honored for their meritorious service in the GLBT community as an annual entertainer at the Dorothy Awards GALA. They were winners of the Advocate Grand Band Slam contest in multiple categories including: best original band, best rock and Best in Saxophone, Guitar, Bass & Drums. Their song GONE, off of their CD Gossip was featured on Sirius radio Hot Top 20 charts for 15 consecutive weeks, reaching #2. Sister Funk was crowned the Winner of the Red Door East Coast Battle of The Bands Competition, which is a 9 wk battle of the best original bands in the tri-state area. Sister Funk ranked 1st in all 5 categories: professionalism, performance, lyrics, originality and audience response and captured the grand prize of $1000 in cash and 20 hours of recording time. In 2010 Sister Funk made their television debut on the DIY network, Ten Grand In Your Hand, “Renovation Rock” episode where they performed live, demoed and then rebuilt a kitchen!

With all their awards and dedications aside, it’s the music, the fans, the love for each other and their project that keep them going. Sister Funk has mastered the art of pick yourself up and dust yourself off, just listen to the lyrics of their song “Up”. Even with having to adjust to multiple band member changes, disappointments and bumps in the proverbial road, Sister Funk has and continues to stay strong, focused and reignites their passion for music and performing. It’s this secret for success that makes them confident that they will be around for another 10 years!
